Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Celebration with Pi Beta Phi

   Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with the members of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Activities will include reading and listening to Dr. Seuss stories, creating a book plate to take home, face painting, games, music, and a small snack. Target age: Kindergarten to grade 3. Since there will be several college students hosting this event, parents do not need to stay at the program, unless their children are younger than 6. (However, they must remain in the library.) Free. No registration.

 

 

 

WALLA Presents AGORA on Monday, March 12 at 6:45 pm

 

Set in fourth century Roman Egypt, Agora (2009) examines the social unrest incited between religious and political factions as the city Alexandria teeters on the brink of violent revolution. Caught between these warring factions is theagora-photo
scientist-philosopher Hypatia (Academy Award Winner Rachel Weisz) who becomes increasingly isolated as she strives to save the library of Alexandria and preserve the knowledge of classical antiquity.

Agora will be presented by WALLA on Monday, March 12 at 6:45 pm in honor of Women’s History Month. (127 minutes; R)

Computer Classes

The Library will be holding two new computer classes this March:

 Computer Applications starts March 20th. This series meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30.  For more information click on the link or call the library.  Call the library 765-743-2261 to register as class sizes are limited.

Introduction to the Internet starts March 20th. This series meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30.  For more information click on the link or call the library.  Call the library 765-743-2261 to register as class sizes are limited.

The instructor for both series is Nancy Hartman.

Computer Classes

In March 2012, Nancy Hartman will be teaching computer classes again.  She will be teaching on Tuesday and Thursdays.  The Applications series (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) will be in the afternoons from 2 to 4 pm and the Internet series will be in the evenings from 5:30 to 7:30.  There will be 5 class sessions for each of these series. 

Each series is $25 but you may receive a discount of $10 if you bring your own laptop.

The instructor for the classes is Nancy Hartman, Computer & Reference Librarian. She has taught computer classes for more than 15 years to a wide variety of people. The class will be taught in the library’s meeting room on laptop computers. Class size is limited so sign up early. Call the library at 765-743-2261 for more information and to register.
